Crash movie review

Crash movie Review

The movie is about the social and racial tensions in Los Angeles. It starts out with a car crash and two people arguing and throwing racial insults at each other and from there the movie more or less shows us argument after argument. We see cops sexually harassing foreign women in front of their husbands, two black people who first claim that no one trusts them because they are black and then steal someone’s car and a locksmith who mistrusted solely because of his origins even though he is an honest man. The movie brings forth a very real and dark reality while at the same time still being humorous.

Daniel (played by Michael Peña) is an honest and kind locksmith. Despite him being a kind person, his foreign origin and rough appearance make people distrust him. When we first see him in the movie he is changing the lock in the home of a rather cynical woman. The woman tells her friend that he wants the lock changed again tomorrow because she believes that he will break in the house (Because he would perhaps keep a copy of the keys for himself).

The movie’s title: Crash, is a rather fitting name. The movie has several “crashes” both literally and figuratively. Many people argue and fight to the point were it “crashes”. And of course there are several car crashes in the movie, which are all symbolic.

Personally I enjoyed the movie. It was realistic, dark and moving while at the same time having a few funny moments. I would recommend this movie highly to anyone who is looking for a real and bold movie but still wants to have a laugh.
